The Board of Selectmen requested that the Committee set the number of seating capacity for all alcoholic beverages in restaurants in the warrant article of the April Town Meeting of 2003. “The article seeks authorization for the Board of Selectmen to issue up to three licenses to restaurants who meet at least 130 and no more than 250 seats.” (Town Meeting voted in the affirmative.) This authorization must be ratified by the Town Election of April 2004 before becoming effective.
Renewal applications for the following establishments were received and reviewed by the committee:
Manetas, Inc dba Andros Diner; JDJ, Inc. dba Asai; Ling Restaurant, Inc. dba Ling Garden; Brothers Pizza, Nicholas Markantonis; Kashish Restaurant, Nikita Restaurant Group; Patou, Little Lotus Co., Inc.; Shangri-La, Shangri-La, Inc., Belmont Country Club-all alcoholic license.
The Health, Community Development and Treasurer’s Office had no issues with these establishments. The Fire Department receives updated hood extinguishing system inspection certificates. The Police Department conducts ‘undercover’ reviews periodically throughout the year.
The Committee approved all the applications. There are eight (8) wine and malt licenses, of which 7 are issued.
The Committee lost a charter member, Don Harrington, whose expertise in zoning was invaluable. Andrew Levin was appointed.
Respectfully submitted,
Maryann L. Scali, Chairman
