The Belmont Garden Club was established in 1930 with Miss Lucy D. Luard as the first President. The Club is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc., N.E. Wildflower Society, Inc., Audubon Society, Habitat and Massachusetts Horticultural Society. The Belmont Garden Club currently has 171 members and its President is Sherry H. Jones. In addition to offering public events, and workshops for its members, the Belmont Garden Club pursues a variety of projects to help beautify the Town of Belmont and support its residents. Activities include community plantings at various deltas in town, providing weekly arrangements to the Senior Center, monthly visits to the Belmont Manor Nursing Home, scholarships to college-bound Belmont residents for horticultural pursuits, tending the wildflower garden at the Main Library, and introducing and educating junior gardeners in gardening, flower arranging and community involvement.

BELMONT GARDEN CLUB COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIPS
Since 1982 the Belmont Garden club has offered the Marion Wilkins/Marie Gray Scholarship to Belmont students in good academic standing. Scholarships are for $1000. These scholarships are being offered again this year.
Applicants must reside in Belmont and plan to attend a two or four-year accredited institution or seek a graduate degree in the following:
· Horticulture
· Biology
· Environmental Studies
· Forestry
· Landscape Design
· Other closely related field
Previous recipients have gone on to make significant contributions in these fields. By offering these scholarships, the Belmont Garden Club hopes to foster further interest in the world of plant culture.
An academic transcript, two character references and a personal interview are required.
