The Healthcare Insurance Committee is a temporary committee appointed by the Board of Selectmen. This committee will examine the challenge of controlling retiree and employee health care costs for the Town of Belmont and will recommend short-term and long-term measures to control these costs. Issues to be addressed include minimizing the cost of purchased insurance, maximizing the cost-effectiveness of health care received, improving the health of our employees and retirees, engaging employees and retirees in a common enterprise to control costs, and working with neighboring communities, the state and others to address this concern.
The Committee will be comprised of a member of the Warrant Committee, a person with a school management perspective, a person with an insurance perspective, a health care provider with a broad perspective on heath care costs, a health care economist, a lawyer with strength in regulatory issues, and a member with relevant experience.
