Community Involvement

The Animal Control Officer (John Maguranis) frequently hosts groups (either adults or children) on nature tours. Belmont has diverse ecosystems with abundant wildlife species that many may not be aware of.  Maguranis is available for one to two hour tours, usually the rock meadow area, where he will lead a group and point out as many species of animals that may be seen, their tracks or scat and dwellings.

Local Cub Scout groups have enjoyed a walk in the meadow and have learned about their environment. Last spring, we encountered snakes and spring "peepers" while exploring vernal pools.  The kids really enjoy this and the adults seem to like it as well.  If you would like to set up a tour, please call 617-993-2724.
