Vaccination Clinic Schedule

RABIES CLINIC SATURDAY, APRIL 2nd, 2011

RABIES AWARENESS MONTH will be celebrated across Massachusetts in April and many towns will be holding rabies clinics on the first Saturday of the month as a kick-off event.   Belmont's clinic, sponsored by the Health Dept. will be held from 12:30 to 3 pm on Saturday, April 2nd, at the Beech Street Center, 266 Beech Street.   Cats will be done first, from 12:30 to 1:30 PM, then dogs and cats will be done from 1:30 to 2:00 PM, and dogs from 2:00 to 3PM.  Cats should be brought in a carrier and dogs should be securely leashed.  The cost of the rabies shot is $10.00.

Animal owners should bring all previous vaccination records with them.  Belmont will be giving rabies shots that won't expire for three years for both dogs and cats, if owners can prove that the animals have had two rabies shots within nine to twelve months of each other to complete the primary series. All animals arriving at the clinic without proof of prior rabies vaccinations will be issued a rabies certificate that will expire in one year.

The Town Clerk will be open for animal licensing during the clinic hours.  The licenses cost $12.00, $9.00 for individuals 60 years of age and over.  A current rabies vaccination certificate and a statement that the animal has been spayed or neutered is required to obtain a license.  All dog and cat licenses expire every year on December 31st and must be renewed prior to March 15th.

Residents from surrounding towns are welcome to attend this rabies clinic.  If you have any questions, call the Belmont Health Dept. at 617-993-2720,
8 am to 4 pm.
